Scrappy Time!

Hello, my Twisted friends and Happy, Happy New Year!! Can you believe it is here??? And what better way to start off the New Year than with adding a new page to Twisting your World? This is the start of our Scrappy Twist series, where we will be highlighting a different scrap project each month!

Scrap projects are becoming popular, and it's easy to see why. Last year, us twisty crafters unlocked some quarantine magic, but what to do with the leftovers???

So to start us off, I thought I would introduce you to my Scrappy Color Scarf! This is an easy and versatile pattern. You can make this scarf as long, or as short as you'd like. You can also make it as thin or thick as you'd like. Here's the only rules I have... no blacks, greys, whites or neutrals. And don't "plan" your colors. I put all of mine in a bag and chose at random!

One of the things I love most about this scarf is that I used the ends as part of the fringe, no sewing in a bunch of ends! Yay!!! We all know that's a dreaded chore of mine. Anyway, let's get twisted :)

Materials

Worsted weight yarn in a variety of colors ( I used 12 colors for 20 rows)

5mm hook

Scissors

Note, Ch1 does not count as a stitch, though if you like the slanted look I did (totally by accident), you can count it as one to increase each row by one stitch. This will create the slanted look I have, but you can keep to my original intention :)

Also, ensure your ends are roughly 5 inches in length so they blend in with your final fringe

Ch 262

Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (261)

Row 2: Ch 1, Hdc in the back loop only in each st (261)

Row 3-20: Repeat Row 2

Again, you can do more or less rows depending on your preference for width.

Fringe: Cut 10 inch lengths of your colors. There's no number, I made mine random and added 2 strands to each row. I randomized the color combos for the fringe as well, as I wanted a full "scrappy" look.
